Women-led Renoon uses technology to help customers combine style and personal sustainability values.

Amsterdam based startup Renoon’s retail tech solution is proving not to be just another online shopping tool. Described as “revolutionary”, Renoon is an app designed to empower you to buy according to your style and sustainability values.

Driven to change the way we shop online, the mobile app will not only help consumers discover, access and learn about sustainable fashion; it will also help customers combine style and personal sustainability values. Aggregating sustainable fashion products, Renoon brings together different websites’ offerings in one place, making it easier to find sustainable collections from their favourite brands and discover new labels.

With more than 1 million products from over 200 partner brands like Stella McCartney, Vestiaire Collective, and LUISAVIAROMA curated on its platform, Renoon offers both new and pre-loved items. With other apps providing roughly the same, what makes Renoon different is that it is the first search platform in Europe to propose the possibility of renting as a new way to access fashion sustainably for occasion-wear.

To make this happen, the women-led Renoon team turned to technology. They developed proprietary technologies to process sustainability attributes and certificates of clothing automatically. This applies not only to the clothing brands in general but also to their products. This allows customers to make a conscious choice regarding environmental protection, animal welfare and working conditions in the fashion industry.

Founded in Amsterdam in February 2020, Renoon has so far successfully closed a round of funding with top industry investors, including Gucci’s ex-CIO, Moleskine’s CFO, Spotify’s ex-MD, and former CTO Yoox Net a Porter Group, as well as C.L.A.S.S.the international eco-hub and a reference point in the fashion and textile industry. Furthermore, Renoon was selected by Prada as one of the ten most promising FashionTech startups in the Startupbootcamp program in Milan last year.

Renoon’s new mobile app is free to download from the App Store and theGoogle Play Store. The onboarding process for new users goes in phases: once the universe of values has been set up, it will take some time to access the experience, but you’ll get an email once all is set up. Currently, the experience is optimal in the Netherlands. Roll out to other countries will happen gradually.
