Rothy’s Sneaker, Designed For The Woman Who Is Changing The Game

Since launching the Flat, then the Point before adding the Loafer and The Sneaker, Rothy's has so far repurposed 15, 265.661 plastic water bottles.

Rothy’s is a footwear brand that we wrote about before. Founded a mere two years ago, the startup hit the headlines when they used plastic waste to create beautiful shoes. They first launched with the Flat, then the Point before adding the Loafer. Now they are introducing The Sneaker.

Looking to draw in the Van wearing tribe, Rothy’s slip-on sneakers boast a no break-in period, and both the Sneaker and the insole are machine-washable (recommend removing the Midsole before washing). Made from recycled water bottles once destined for the landfill, the sneakers are seamlessly constructed using a 3D knitting process that significantly reduces waste.

“I don’t think it’s groundbreaking in terms of the silhouette. It’s groundbreaking in terms of how it’s made, its comfort, its durability.”

So far the innovative company has repurposed 15, 265.661 plastic water bottles, and I am sure with this latest addition to their footwear collection that number is only going to get higher. On who they designed the Sneaker for, Rothy states, “We designed The Sneaker for the woman who is changing the game. She’s a go-getter, and she’s always leading the charge. She gets up early and stays out late. She’s uptown, downtown, and across town—usually all in the same day. So we made a shoe that can keep up with her…without sacrificing her style.”

Available in nine colours; black, steel grey, sand, bright white, teal, garnet, navy, washed pink, and electric lemon, co-founder Roth Martin told Wired, “I don’t think it’s groundbreaking in terms of the silhouette. It’s groundbreaking in terms of how it’s made, its comfort, its durability.” Priced $125.00, the Sneakers are now available online at Rothys.com or you can grab a pair from their first brick-and-mortar store which opened in San Francisco earlier this year. Cute and fashion-forward,  this latest pair of classic looking footwear definitely makes for an excellent wardrobe staple no matter the season. Shop the Sneaker.
