CES2018: Jewellery Remade From Dell’s e-Waste Material Unveiled

Introducing the Bayou with Love x Dell jewellery collection

According to Dell, Americans throw away $60 million in gold and silver in old phones alone, and only 12.5 percent of e-waste is currently being recycled into other products. So in an attempt to combat this, Dell has partnered up with activist/actress Nikki Reed, of Twilight fame, to design a limited-edition jewellery. Unveiled at CES 2018 this week the Circular Collection was made of gold from old, recycled computers.

Reed said in a statement; “Bayou with Love was created to bring greater awareness to the human impact on our planet and show that beautiful items can come from sustainably sourced and recycled materials.” Adding, “By recycling gold that was once considered ‘waste,’ Dell and I are working to create an environment where we continuously reuse resources and strive for zero waste.”

Dell says it aims to use 100 million pounds of recycled material in its product portfolio by 2020. If you’d like to contribute a laptop to the cause, you can drop it off at any Goodwill that’s participating in the Dell Reconnect program. Starting from $78.00, the entirely sustainable, dainty and delicate jewellery includes 14- and 18-carat gold rings, earrings, and cufflinks.
