2015, was definitely the year that FashionTech shrugged of its gadgetry stigma and was finally given a seat at the table.
With innovation leading the way, we witnessed the world of fashion technology pushing boundaries so we could embrace tech-laced smart garments and accessories bragging technology of stylish convenience. It was also the year that Retail Tech came out of the shadows of FashionTech. The year that fitness wearable brands finally understood that they needed to become more fashion conscious when it came to designing their devices, hello Jawbone‘s collection of beautiful bands.
2015 was also the year of collaborations. The year that fashion brands and technology came together to successfully create wearables that were actually marketable. Our favourite was the Bauble Bar x Jawbone collab, a consumer friendly jewellery collection of wearable tech minus the geek. Then there was Fashion Tech 2.0 brands like Vinaya and Unseen, that not only evolved into fashionable must haves with the power to reflect a wearer’s personal taste but they are also now stocked in well known stores like Selfridges and Browns Focus.
Our very own highlights of 2015 included the launch of FashNerd.com in January. This was the year that we threw ourselves into all things fashion and lifestyle tech. We became the first fashion tech news site to launch #WearableTechStylist and Fashion Tech Guides.
