On the Subject of Virtual Fashion, Lili Eva Bartha Appointed Virtual Residence

I am excited to be living in a world where the job title ‘Virtual Residence in the subject of Virtual Fashion’ is a role that we can all aspire too. Offered by research group Fashion Research & Technology Group, the position has been filled by artist/designer/researcher in residence, Lili Eva Bartha.

Who is Lili Eva Bartha?

Determined to tackle the unsustainable state of fashion, Lili Eva Bartha is a Royal College of Art graduate on a mission. With a background in science combined with creative design, she was appointed by Troy Nachtigall, professor of the Fashion Research & Technology group as first “Virtual Residency”. The theme of the Residency is “Virtual Fashion for a Virtual Time”.

“I was really excited that Lili Eva Bartha found us. She has bachelors and masters in both arts ànd sciences. What we do very well at the AUAS is to create people well rounded in arts and sciences, capable of working with science and art at the same time. Lili embodies this perspective and will inspire us to go even further,” said Troy Nachtigall in an interview posted on hva.nl.

Running from 19 October 2020 to mid-January 2021, Nachtigall is confident that Bartha will inspire and bring to the table new ways of doing things. Hoping to continue with these residences Nachtigall admitted to hva.nl: “Our goal is to find people who show us different ways of fashion. The Residency allows us to give these people the freedom to keep developing who they are and their ideas that discover new novelty. We hope to continue these into the future so we have these people with us at the faculty.”
