Must Attend Fashion Tech Events Sharing the Stage With Fashion Week This Season

Fashion Week is no longer only about what we will wear next season, it now shares the stage with various events that are all about exploring the future of fashion, the role of technology and what this could all mean.

With New York Fashion Week reawakening all things fabulous and chic this coming Friday 8th February 2019, we have handpicked some must-attend fashion tech-focused events taking place during fashion weeks this season.

New York Fashion Week

During NYFW, women in fashion, technology, and media will gather on the 9th of February 2019 for a special Women of Colour FashTech Brunch. The brainchild of Brittany Hicks Founder of Girls in Fashion & Technology (G.I.F.T.), fit technology consultant Jessica Couch of Luxor and Finch, and Geek of Chic Founder Ellie Zambrano, the event will celebrate diversity and discuss the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for women of colour in their respective fields.

We believe that community is the foundation of progress and growth for women of colour in fashion, media, and technology fields,” Hicks explained. “Women of colour in the tech or fashion industry are often isolated as they do not have the same community support as non-people of colour,” adds Couch. “The fashion tech community specifically is limited therefore we see the need to form a supportive community to further our career efforts collectively.”

They are bringing together innovators, entrepreneurs, influencers, and trailblazers in the fashion, media, and tech world for a panel discussion and afternoon of networking with fellow industry professionals. This year’s featured panellists include Uzunma Udeh, Senior Finance Analyst of Global Markets at ASOS, Kelly Stickel of the retail consultancy firm Remodista, C-Suite Coach Founder Angelina Cheeks, and Andrew Mccaskill, Senior Vice President of Global Communications & Multicultural Marketing at Nielsen.

The Women of Color FashTech event will be held take place from 12:30 – 4:00 p.m. at Fig & Olive in New York. Tickets, that range from $75 – $95, will include a 3-course lunch, cocktails, access to the panel discussion, networking opportunities, and a swag bag.
