ASOS on the Hunt for Innovative Fashion Tech Start-ups

ASOS & Wayra UK Launch Acceleration Programme In Search of World’s Most Innovative Fashion Technology Start-ups .

There is a new collab in Fashion Tech city, and it is between online shopping giant ASOS and Wayra UK. The two power houses have partnered up to find and accelerate innovative start-ups.

ASOS is currently looking to bring innovative technology to its 11 million customers around the world and they invite start-ups with proven track record to submit proposals. ASOS x Wayra collab’s  objective is to accelerate innovative start-ups and to also increase the pace of innovation within the fashion technology space. ASOS x Wayra hope that their venture will translate into meaningful solutions that will allow customers to find the perfect item among the 80,000+ products on ASOS.com.

Unfortunately, unlike Topshop, ASOS isn’t looking to get into wearables or design so their hunt excludes start-ups in the wearable tech, 3D printing or fashion design space. For those who tick all the boxes, you can look forward to being offered access to dedicated acceleration services and office space within Wayra UK’s academy in Central London for a period of 8 months. During that time, each team will receive intensive mentoring from an experienced network of coaches – including those from ASOS – to help scale all aspects of their business as well as access to an extensive investor network and potentially, access to Telefónica’s customer base (more than 300 million) and ASOS’s networks locally and globally.

On the collab Cliff Cohen, ASOS CIO shared that when it comes to the technology, there are specific areas that they would like to accelerate innovation. He also added, “To see ASOS – arguably one of Britain’s biggest start-up success stories – itself embrace open innovation in this way is truly inspiring and shows why the UK has evolved into one of the world’s best start-up ecosystems. ASOS is the perfect co-investor for anyone interested in e-commerce, adtech and fashion tech.”

Submissions will close at 9am on Monday 23rd May. The lucky start-ups that have been selected will go through to the semi-finals on Thursday 26th May at ASOS with the finals taking place at the Wayra UK academy on Thursday 2nd June 2016.
