Another day, another luxury brand dips its toe into technology. This time around it is Gucci. The fashion house has launched a new augmented reality app designed to let you experience Gucci’s Ace sneakers virtually.
Developed by Belarus-based company Wannaby, Gucci has taken shopping a step further by using immersive technology to help consumers “try on” their signature sneakers and see what the sneakers look like on their feet from various angles.
The new app works by first downloading the Gucci app- heads up, it is only available on iOS right now. When it has downloaded, click on the Ace Sneakers button and point your phone at your feet. Note that it is better to try the app with socks on rather than with shoes on. After you have tired of playing with the app, head to the Gucci site, where your chosen trainers will be in your shopping basket ready for you to purchase. If the shoes are too out of your price range, then I guess you will have a photo of you “wearing” the sneakers that you can show off on Instagram.
