I am not much of a gamer, but boy did I love the Sims. I first discovered it at my friend’s house. When she showed me how it works, I thought “how silly” – famous last words, because it wasn’t long before I was addicted. As I escaped into the virtual world no one heard from me for about a week. So when I heard about Moschino x Sims, a high-fashion collaboration between gaming and fashion, I was ready to revisit my Sims world once more.
Moschino’s RTW Collection, Designed For The Instagram Age
Jeremy Scott, the flamboyant designer behind fashion brand Moschino, has designed a range that will give us a break from reality. Named Moschino x The Sims Pixel, the capsule collection, inspired by the life simulation video game franchise, is made up of pixelated wardrobe of prints, dresses, skirts, jeans, tops and Plumbob accessories. The pièce de résistance for me was the graphic hoodie that read “I don’t speak Italian, but I do speak Moschino”.
This is not the first time that fashion has collaborated with The Sims. In the past, online giant ASOS also partnered up with The Sims Mobile. On a mission to bring style to video simulation, Scott told British Vogue; “I love the idea of being able to imagine, design and bring to life a world of individual personas with The Sims universe.” Adding, “That concept emulates what I get to do for each collection at Moschino as I create a fantasy universe of spectacular storylines and characters.”
Now let’s talk campaign. Scott’s vision is immortalised in a campaign that features supermodel Stella Maxwell as a Sim. Other models that were morphed into Sims characters include Aiden Curtiss and Denek Kania. There is no denying that the campaign will attract social-media addicts looking for great content.
The Sims-inspired capsule collection, first announced on Wednesday 10th April 2019, will be introduced to the real world at Coachella this weekend during Scott’s annual Palm Springs Desert Party. The Moschino x The Sims pieces will be available in the real world at Moschino boutiques and Moschino.com as of tomorrow, 13th April 2019.
