The Unboxing and Exploration Of An Emel + Aris Smart Coat

With a stamp of approval from the likes of fashion bible Vogue, I was excited to finally get my hands on my very own Emel + Aris cashmere blend wrap coat.

It is no secret that I have a style crush on luxury brand EMEL + ARIS. I can’t help but adore their beautifully tailored smart coats designed for both men and women. From the outside looking in, British brand, Emel + Aris might just have perfected the right balance of science, technology and fashion.

With a stamp of approval from the likes of fashion bible Vogue, I was excited to finally get my hands on my very own Emel + Aris cashmere blend wrap coat. At last I was going to be able to explore the revolutionary heating technology that I had heard so much about. Having read up on it, I looked forward to reaping the health benefits of the Far Infrared (FIR) therapy that includes increased blood flow, pain relief and a boosted immune system.

The joy was written on my face when I first tried on my Emel + Aris coat

The Unboxing

The much sought after Emel + Aris coat arrived in a large box. Carefully opening it, I laid eyes on a camel coloured cashmere wrap coat that Rana, the founder, had confidently told me would suit my style. After unboxing my new coat, I ran my hands over the Italian fabric, slowly taking in the small details. Slidding on the handsome coat, I unashamedly twirled in front of the mirror, appreciating the lightness of the coat. Wearing the water repellent and wind proof camel coat, I felt like I was finally being introduced to a successful merge of fashion and technology. The coat, which boasted a classic cut, not only complemented my curves, but also made my outfit- a pair of blue jeans and a simple black vest- feel smarter.

“I felt that this style of coat breathed the simplicity of Calvin Klein and also spoke the language of luxury understood stood by brands like Chanel and Celine.”

Once I got over the perfect fit of my new coat, I next wanted to explore the technology that I had heard a lot about from Rana. Going back to the box that the coat was delivered in, I found, hidden among the black tissue paper, a small bubble wrapped package. Opening it up I discovered two batteries and a wall charger. Small and compact, the batteries were the size of a box of matches. This was a nice surprise. I was happy to see that Rana had pulled it off. Before the coat arrived Rana and I had talked at length about design limitations and how important it was for her that her collection of luxury coats operated on a small battery. So I was happy to discover that she had been able to pull it off. Wondering where the battery would go, I started an in-depth exploration of the coat. It took me 10 mins to locate the discrete opening. Closed with a zip, I learnt that you can access the battery area via the pocket. As I gently pulled the wire out, I found myself saying out loud “Now that is what you call seamless technology”.

It was a hurrah moment when I found where the battery was to be inserted.

After spending some time with the smart coat, I can confidently say, that technology aside, the Emel + Aris smart coat breathed the simplicity of Calvin Klein and spoke the language of luxury. If you would like to find out more, then watch this space, because next I plan to put aside my beloved COS coat and spend 7 consecutive days in my new smart coat. As both judge and jury, I will critically look at:

  • Design
  • Comfort
  • Technology
  • User Experience
