Based on what we have seen so far from one of our favorite hardware companies Misfit Wearables, the expectations surrounding any new to be released devices were high. Before the acquisition by Fossil, former CEO Sonny Vu had us on tenterhooks when he announced that two new Misfit products would be released at CES 2016 and that one of them would not be a wearable. With those words echoing in our ears, we waited with baited breath for CES 2016 to come round so we could finally meet Misfit’s Ray.

Already labelled as ‘an evolution in activity tracking’, Ray is being touted as a blend of performance and versatility. It promises to deliver fitness and sleep tracking, distance traveled, calories burned and activity tagging. It is a wearable that practically never needs charging and is water-resistant up to 50 meters.

With its clean lines and anodized aluminum shell, the bracelet creates a form that keeps the fashion aspect in mind. In this case it looks like Misfit was aiming to let Ray blend in more and much better with traditional fashion jewelry. It is a more stack friendly design that would easily allow a woman to customize her wrist as she sees fit.

The overall minimalist look brags cylinders that pack some powerful engineering on board. If you are wearing a Misfit Shine or Speedo Shine you can rely on the same features. Receive call and text notifications or silent alarms through subtle vibration alerts or even control your surroundings by tapping on the smart button with the help of the companion app called Misfit Link.  You will be able to take selfies, turn off lights in your smart home, control your playlist of your favorite music or even advance through presentation slides.
