The architecturally-led fashion brand has managed to wow us this season with their sportswear line. The future thinking brand is all about “empowering the body” through structural experiments, an ethos that was evident in some of the SS16 pieces powered by Intel to react to the body’s temperature and adrenaline levels.
When it comes to Chromat’s SS16 runway, we loved the key pieces that bragged fascinating features that made you sit up and take notice. A great example of this, was when stunning model Alek Wek rocked a bra that was created with an Intel-designed module that opens vents in response to the body’s temperature and sweat- wow!
Amazing as that tech was, it was not ‘the’ moment for us. The moment for us, when we thought “yes this what we are talking about” came when the Chromat Adrenaline Dress made its way down the runway. Made up of 3-D printed panels, the mesmerizing dress sprouted wing-like carbon-fiber framework when activated by adrenaline. This fight-or-flight mode reaction was simply amazing!
On the partnership, Intel’s VP of New Devices Ayse Ildeniz, shared, “The two garments powered by Intel technology illustrate the potential of future integrations of fashion and technology by bringing innovative concepts and aspirations to life. We at Intel look forward to empowering and inspiring the fashion industry by elevating the utility of clothing and accessories with intelligent capabilities.”
As we continue to seek the tech at NYFW , our advice to you is that if you are unfamiliar with this brand, then make sure you get to know them quick. A label that is loved by the likes of fashion forward FKA Twigs and stylish performer Beyonce, definitely is the one to watch in our books.
