Just in, pop divo and wearable enthusiast has partnered up with luxury fashion house Gucci to create a smart band watch.

Announced exclusively in Vogue, the fashion focused smart band was shown off at the Baselworld watch show where the Black Eyed Peas front man sported a white prototype.

The device will operate independently of a phone and boasts a rectangular screen embedded into a band, that is thick, wide and wraps around the wrist.  The 3G enabled smart watch will have its own SIM card and will therefore be able to make and receive calls, send texts and emails, store music and track your fitness.

With its very own voice activated Siri like personal assistant, this latest wearable fits in very well with the musicians “fashionology” philosophy. Whilst at Baselworld watch fair in Switzerland he stated; “A lot of people are creating wearable devices from a tech background. Gucci has been putting things on your body for years. We like to call it fashionology. It’s where fashion and technology meet.”

With all that Jazz, they are yet to release the nitty gritty, such as the screen resolution, battery life, processor, pricing and availability. So we must simply just wait. Which brings us to what makes this X Gucci stand out from the rest of the smart watches we are currently being bombarded with? Well, unlike Android Wear devices and the Apple Watch, this is a smart watch that does not need to be connected to a phone in order to provide smart functions. It is more like the LG Watch Urbane LTE, smart enough to dance to the beat of its own drum.
