Lakmé Fashion Week Brings Tech Into The Fold

With so many Fashion Technology events now taking place globally, we wanted to give those who might not be in the know a slight nudge as a reminder that today Lakmé Fashion Week begins.

Lakmé Fashion Week is an event that is jointly organized by Lakmé, the No.1 cosmetics and beauty services brand in India and IMG Reliance, the global leader in sports and entertainment event marketing and management. The event was conceived with a vision to “Redefine the future of fashion and Integrate India into the global fashion world”.

The bi-annual event attracts brands from all 4 corners of the globe. This year, the event has attracted sponsors such as Fitbit, who need no introduction, Reliance Trends, India’s largest fashion destination and Inter National Institute of Fashion Design (INIFD,) the world’s largest network of design institutes.

Lakmé Fashion Week  will be bringing to the forefront a mix of new gen, established and emerging Indian fashion designers. The event will also be integrating 7 international Fashion Technology designers into their schedule who will be showcasing their wearable tech collections to an eager audience. The invited designers include ElektroCouture, Lina Wassong, Melissa Coleman, Valerie Lamontagne, Igor Knezevic, Kristin Neidlinger and Chritian Bruns.

On their inclusion to Lakmé Fashion Week schedule , Saket Dhankar, vice president and head of fashion at IMG Reliance said, “Fashion worldwide has entered a new age of tech design; the future of fashion is here. The ‘ElektroCouture & Friends’ show is a powerful story of progressive and new age fashion. This season, we turn the spotlight on the biggest global fashion trends and showcase them on the Indian ramp. Ranging from digital knitting and weaving to 3-D printing the designers will be presenting a collective showcase of fashion and technology that promises to be the highlight of the week.
