10 Events Designed To Demystify The Role Technology Plays In Fashion and Retail

As the merger of fashion with technology continues to grow at an exponential rate, we have seen so many events popping up in comparison to 5 years ago. To know which conferences, trade shows, and workshops to attend you need to first understand that 90% of your decision will be dependent on what you are looking for and where you are located. If making such a decision gets you a little flustered, then you will be pleased to know that we have rounded up 10 events that has either attended or heard great things about.

(1) Future Fabrics Expo | The Sustainable Angle || 29th 2020 – 30th January 2020 || London, UK

The Future Fabrics Expo is the largest dedicated showcase of globally sourced, commercially available sustainably and responsibly produced fabrics and materials. Providing the tools for responsible fashion industry, the Expo sources and curates materials with a lower environmental footprint, offering accessible and innovative sustainable solutions. Giving fashion traditionalists a taste of the future, the KEYHOUSE has been triumphantly introducing trendsetting smart technology that is driven with the need to future proof fashion businesses.

Launched 30th August 2016, KEYHOUSE reflects new dynamism and progressiveness paving the way forward for a sector that is constantly reinventing itself. Each season they feature established, emerging and Indie fashion designers along with cutting edge Fashion Tech companies, along with new thought leaders committed to transforming the way industry operates today. “We believe the future of Fashion is High Tech, sustainable and available to anyone, anywhere, empowering consumers and designers/brands alike” shared the event organisers. 


(4) FASHION INNOVATION WEEK: INNOVATION MEETS FASHION || 30th March 2020 || Lugano, Switzerland

Fashion Innovation Week is one of the most coveted and respected FashionTech events in Europe, regularly hosting in excess of 1200 guests during the main day (Innovation Meets Fashion). Featuring an incredible array of executives from the Fashion and Technology worlds, the week has helped to establish Ticino as the FashionTech hub of Europe.

A fixture of the FashionTech calendar, the event regularly hosts over 1000 delegates, speakers and visitors; and brings together brands, retailers, manufacturers and technology providers from the worlds of fashion and fashion tech.


(5) London Tech Week || 8th June – 12th June 2020 || London, UK

Taking place across London,  London Tech Week brings together the best of the global tech community to explore how technology can be used to help tackle some of the world’s toughest business, social and environmental challenges. Since its inception in 2012, the festival has grown rapidly year-on-year, shining a light on London and the UK as Europe’s biggest tech hub.

Uniting tech and talent in a world-class hub of innovation, London Tech Week 2020 has partnered up with Founders Forum so they can continue to convene the world’s most inspiring entrepreneurs, investors, politicians, global leaders and academics at its events.  The partnership will celebrate the strength and diversity of tech in the UK.


(6) Wear It Innovation || 10th June – 11th June 2020 || Berlin, Germany

Wear It Innovation Summit is Europe’s leading conference for professionals in the wearable technology industry. Entering its 7th year with 2000 sqm of conference space, we continue to grow. More than 700 delegates including industry executives, decision-makers, R&D, innovation leaders, investors and media representatives will participate.

THE 2020 focus will be on the value chain of wearable technology in when it comes to digital health, IoT & industry 4.0, sport, safety and lifestyle. Although fashion seems not to be key in this season’s conversation, Wear It has added a little spice by including SexTech, a relevant and significant topic in the future of the digital health industry.


(7) VivaTech || 11 June- 13th June 2020 || Paris, France

VivaTech gathers, under one roof, the brightest entrepreneurs, executives, investors, students and academics to collaborate, network, pitch, get inspired and showcase their innovations. It is a 3-day annual conference on a mission is to help startups and major corporates to become the digital champions of tomorrow, to succeed in their digital transformation and to innovate collectively for the common good.

(9) Dutch Design Week || 17th – 25th October 2020 || Eindhoven, The Netherlands

In October of each year, Dutch Design Week (DDW) takes place in Eindhoven. The biggest design event in Northern Europe presents work and ideas of more than 2600 designers to more than 350,000 visitors from home and abroad. In more than 110 locations across the city, DDW organizes and facilitates exhibitions, lectures, prize ceremonies, networking events, debates and festivities.

Although during the event every imaginable discipline and aspect of the design is on offer, the emphasis is on experiment, innovation and cross-overs. Exceptional attention each year goes to work and development of young talent.

DDW concentrates on the design of the future and the future of design. It is our objective to show how designers from around the world shape a positive future and to strengthen the position and meaning of Dutch designers.
