Smart Gloves That Seamlessly Combine High Technology With Performance Art

Anina Net, fashion tech entrepreneur with over 10 years experience in the merger of fashion and technology, unveiled a smart glove at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala 2017.

Anina Net, CEO of 360Fashion Network, has collaborated with Intel to develop a smart glove which simultaneously creates a human light pattern controlled by gesture recognition.

Unveiled by 162 dancers performing the “Spring Wind” dance at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala 2017, the glove uses a 6-axis combo sensor with accelerometer and gyroscope to synchronize the 162 dancers’ movements together with a custom-made LED shield embedded into the palm of the glove. On the glove, powered by Intel® Curie™, China based Anina told FashNerd.com founder Mano ten Napel, “It was an absolute career highlight seeing the experience showcased on such a grand scale at this culturally important time of year. It demonstrates how fashion and high technology can fuse seamlessly together with performance art.”

Last year we wrote about Anina and her impressive 360Fash Tech Kit. Developed to eradicate the need to code, the 360Fash Tech Kit is all about out-of-the box solutions that focus on integrating and creating smart garments and accessories without having to touch a single line of code. The 10 kits are comprised of ready-made materials, drag and drop visual software, Intel Edison, Intel Curie, 3D Print and STL files and online tutorials.

“(The smart glove) demonstrates how fashion and high technology can fuse seamlessly together with performance art.”

When it comes to her latest venture, the talented Anina plans to go commercial with the smart glove. Before that, the 360Fashion Network, known for specializing in fashion mobile apps, will be adding a mobile app to help support wearers control their smart gloves. Promising a “360Fashion & Tech” experience, Anina hopes that the glove will encourage wearers to use it in the performing arts, interactive installations, urban mobility, and dance performances.

With the future looking bright for the 360Fashion x Intel smart glove, we must admit that we cannot wait to see which fashion designers will be roped in to work on creating unique designs for their smart glove. Until then, we can confirm that they plan to launch their smart glove later this year, along with several other tech-enabled fashion products.
