Josh.ai Goes Beyond Voice With New Integrations, Automation and Machine Learning

Josh.ai, artificial intelligence as unique as the homes it runs.

Josh.ai has undoubtedly earned its place as a leader in advanced voice technology. As pioneers of early voice control for home automation, they have found a way of creating products and platforms that enable true natural interaction with technology in everyday life. Following nine years of research and development, CEO, Alex Capecelatro said: “When we set out to create Josh.ai, the goal was to make a sophisticated AI enabling the most intuitive, natural way to interact with your home.”

Founded by Tim Gill and Capecelatro, the voice-controlled home automation system has been built to support natural language voice commands, including greetings, question, instructions, and more. Also constructed to control and connect to any “smart” device, from any device, Josh.ai can naturally adjust its environment so you can use the device to turn on your speakers from your watch, change the temperature from your phone, shut off the lights from your desktop, etc. Initially, Josh was focused on the smart home, but over time they envision a more general-purpose AI, which will ensure that Josh will go where you go, and make your life easier and more productive.

Josh.ai Offering A More Intuitive Smart Home Experience

Entering their fourth year at CEDIA, a show that brings the home tech industry together, from the 4th of September 2018, the Josh.ai team will be personally introducing new functionalities. These include learning and automation, a feature that will allow users to have a more intuitive smart home experience. It is a function that will make Josh the first voice platform to natively support audio and video distributed matrix switchers from industry leading manufacturers. Transitioning beyond inflexible scene-based voice commands, Josh now adds the ability to route audio and video to the desired room while preserving our proprietary natural language processing. Users can now enjoy a more powerful experience with currently supported brands such as Onkyo, Integra, Pioneer, Sonos, Heos and Sony. In addition to new integrations with Atlona, Barco, and Crestron’s DM and SWAMP.

The Denver based company will also be introducing the new Josh 3.0 App. It is a newly designed version created around artificial intelligence. It will allow Josh to optimise and make proactive recommendations for enhanced safety and security, energy management, and entertainment control. This addition is a dynamically distributed AV release that introduces an entirely new way to route audio and video in the home with simple voice commands.

As the first home control interface, the app will actively utilise machine learning based off of user-specific living patterns. A contextual dashboard offers suggestions based on the time of day, usage data, and general recommendations. The updated interface has day and night colour schemes as well as more straightforward navigation, which requires a maximum of two taps to access any action. The new design also includes a variety of integrator features to edit and troubleshoot client homes remotely efficiently.
