Wearable art and Kim Kardashian are not words usually said in the same breath, until now. The reality star has recently been boasting about a necklace that she has been wearing by A.Human. Telling various news outlets that the necklace, “Moves to the rhythm of my heartbeat”, it looks like the older Kardashian might have just made the conversation about what the future could look like should people start implanting accessories into their bodies, go mainstream.
Founded by Simon Huck, a friend of the Kardashian and owner of Command PR, an agency in New York City, A.Human is a fashion brand that explores the possibilities of being able to change your body as quickly as you change your clothes. They believe in a future were self-expression will not be defined by what you put on your body, but how you change your body.
“It was important to root this experience in optimism while provoking our guests to think about a potential future of fashion.”
The progressive fashion brand’s latest collection features body modifications instead of clothes. In a press release, Huck said, “It was important to root this experience in optimism while provoking our guests to think about a potential future of fashion, and by doing so, inviting them to question their definitions of self-expression.”
Besides Kim, Huck has found celebrity fans in Chrissy Teigen who Instagrammed herself wearing an intricate body artwork featured feathers made from skin that grows out of her chest and Queer Eye’s Tan France who wore a living piece of jewellery made of ruffled skin and bio-reactive crystals. With plans to showcase the collection during New York Fashion Week, the brand will also be opening their flagship store in N.Y.C. from the 5th September 2018 where you will be able to customise your very own piece of jewellery to suit your taste and specifications.
