Marc Jacobs Growing Line of Wearables Gets Tactile

Blending design and accessibility, Marc Jacobs introduces its first-ever touchscreen smartwatch.

Yesterday, American label Marc Jacobs introduced its first touchscreen smartwatch. The lightweight round shape silhouette smart ticker embodies the spirit of Marc Jacobs with characteristics that define individuality and personality. A better-looking watch, in my opinion, to previous versions, the Riley touchscreen smartwatch has successfully combined design and functionality with a variety of customisable faces ranging from quirky to sleek and the latest Wear OS by Google™.

Innovating the Ordinary to Extraordinary

Blending design and accessibility, the technology is housed in a polished case with a stunning 1.19-inch AMOLED display. The Riley touchscreen smartwatch is compatible with both iOS® and Android™ phones, powered by the Wear OS by Google™ smartwatch platform and equipped with the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ Wear 2100 processor. The smartwatch connects to your phone via Bluetooth technology and offers user-friendly notifications and messaging, downloadable third-party apps, and help from your Google Assistant.

Available in three styles: a gold-tone case with a white silicone strap; a rose gold-tone case with a taupe silicone strap; and a black case with a black silicone strap, the touchscreen smartwatches are designed in a way that allows the wearer to enhance their individuality further. With an ambient sensor to improve battery life and a silicone strap, makes the watch quite versatile, when it comes to going from workday to working out.

Key features include the ability to receive calls, texts and other alerts directly to your wrist. You can change the dials based on your mood, outfit or event with over 1,000 combinations that are available. You also have easy access to your music library while keeping track of your on-the-go life with Google Fit. Our favourite has to be able to call up Google Assistant by pressing the crown or saying “Hey Google how is the weather today?” Oh yes, also the ability to wirelessly charge the smartwatch in three hours is pretty impressive.

“Without compromising design, Marc Jacobs seems to be successfully designing a growing line of wearables that are reaching an audience who you would never associate with wearables.”

Targeting the ‘urban customer’, the campaign was shot by renowned photographer Theo Wenner and styled by Elissa Santisi who captured the versatility of the smartwatch shooting well known pop culture icons like former “Terrace House: Aloha State” cast member Lauren Tsai, actor/models Lucas Bin and Vivienne Rohner, and breakout star Bria Vinaite.

The touchscreen smartwatch joins the ‘hybrid smartwatch’ Riley, which is currently still available on MarcJacobs.com and select retailers nationwide. Without compromising design, Marc Jacobs seems to be successfully designing a growing line of wearables that are reaching an audience who you would never associate with wearables, which is a great thing. The price is set at a $295 and £269.
