Beauty Tech: When Chemical Reaction Meets Heat Activated

Last year there was a lot of coverage on how Lauren Bowker invented a hair dye that changed colour based on the temperature of its surrounding environment. For example, if you have red hair and you’re in the wind it might go blue. Named “FIRE,”  Lauren told Dazed: “When the heat hits the pigment, or if the cool hits the pigment, it changes the bonds of the chemistry to give you a different colour, so it’s like a chemical reaction.”  FIRE is now in good company alongside Pravana’s VIVIDS MOOD COLOR.

VIVIDS MOOD COLOR is a heat-activated temporary hair colour that transforms your look in moments. The out-of-this-world colour-change takes place when you add heat. The transition is instant, and it changes back as it cools down. You can intermix shades to create custom VIVIDS MOOD COLOR combinations, or use a colour melt or dip dye technique for a fun pop of colour.

To use VIVIDS MOOD COLOR, you need to combine one part VIVIDS MOOD COLOR pigment with three parts Base Creme. Apply evenly to towel-dried hair, then dry and style – just remember to keep hot tools at or below 400 degrees Fahrenheit. When you’re ready for another colour-changing combination, simply wash out with shampoo and instantly apply the next VIVIDS MOOD COLOR shade. Do note that, VIVIDS MOOD COLOR appears best on lighter levels of hair.  If you are looking for a longer-lasting colour-change, apply to any type of clip-in hair extension for repeated use.
