MICROFACTORY: The Industry is Changing, Are You?

MUNICH FABRIC START kicks off the trade fair cycle for A/W 18/19 by offering attendees the chance to experience and explore the future of production with the introduction of the MICROFACTORY.

Set against the backdrop of MUNICH FABRIC START, is MICROFACTORY. It is the brainchild of several companies who have joined forces to form an interlocking solution. Coordinated by DITF (Deutsche Institute für Deutsche Textil- und Faserforschung), the MICROFACTORY is all about providing the garment industry with a live showcase that shows off a complete network and integrated production chain from design through to finishing.

Taking place at Keyhouse between the 5-7 Sept 2017, the MICROFACTORY experience is all about how how efficiently the translation of trends and the rapid response to market demands can be realized, even for orders with batch size one. Some attendees will get the chance to test the industry 4.0 and produce a custom running shirt made of Schoeller fabrics.

“The objective of the MICROFACTORY is to demonstrate to the industry an interlaced solution from sketch to sewn garment”.

For those lucky enough to give it a go, the starting point will be the development of your creativity in Computer Aided Design (CAD). Using a 3D simulation, the design is processed for cutting out and sewing. For this purpose, identifying QR codes as well as position markers are integrated into the production order for later localization. These types of manufacturing processes are realized by Assyst GmbH, a subsidiary of the Human Solutions Group, and Printcubator by Mitwill.

Next comes the printing. Using the TexPrint programme of the company ErgoSoft, the design colour data is enabled before being processed for digital printing. Colour accuracy is guaranteed due to the use of the multispectral technology by Caddon. Following this, the individual designs are then printed onto transfer paper of the company Coldenhove, via Mimaki sublimation printing machines. Optimum printing results are ensured through the thermal transfer on calenders of the brand Heatjet. The system partner Multi-Plot provides Turnkey Solutions for the entire process stage. In the last step, the individual elements are assembled in a finished product.
