Gear IconX Launched, So Is it The Year of the Hearable?

Less expensive than Bragi Dash, Samsung introduces a more affordable Gear IconX

As Samsung continues its plan to corner the fitness wearable market, they unveil their latest gadget, the Gear IconX. With fitness needs in mind, the cord-free earbuds have the ability to track fitness information and provide users with feedback on their running performance.

Optimized to benefit users’ various fitness levels, Younghee Lee, Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics shared, “Living a healthy lifestyle is a top priority for consumers to enjoy fulfilling lives. Our wearable technology can enhance existing routines and blend fitness and fun. The Gear IconX is specialized to easily address these needs, ultimately allowing users to get more out of their fitness experiences and everyday activities.”

Lightweight, secure and with a comfortable fit, the Gear IconX are easily activated by simply placing the earbuds in your ears users, then you simply tap or swipe the earbuds to easily control the music. We are confident that the fitness conscious will love how the device is able to track fitness data such as distance, speed, duration, heart rate and calories burned. Easily syncing with S Health, the Gear IconX includes a Voice Guide feature that provides instant voice feedback on your workout progress, whilst also providing a standalone music listening experience.

Priced $199, the Gear IconX has been designed with Bluetooth capability and an internal storage that can play up to 1,000 MP3s. It comes in three different sizes of ear tips and wingtips and will be available anytime between July – September 2016. Leaving us wondering have we finally been introduced to a consumer friendly product with mainstream appeal? I guess we will have to wait and see.
