Will Apple be Putting a Ring on it?

It looks like Apple might just be putting a ring on it.

As of 24 hours ago, Apple filed a patent for a “ring computing device”, an interactive ring that could work in conjunction with the iPhone. The whispers are that Apple wants to go smaller and design an Apple Ring.

So what does the patent application state? Although not all of Apple’s patents ends on the production line, they did describe their potential product as an interactive smart ring that could have a  touchpad/ touchscreen, a haptic feedback and a microphone. With smart ring on their mind, we love that Apple are thinking outside the box and acknowledging a smart watch might not be for everybody.

One cannot fault Apple. Although they might not end up putting the ring into production I am very curious about what they plan for the Apple ring in terms of it becoming a stylish fashion accessory, because I really cannot imagine a touchscreen on a ring. It seems like it would be an unnecessary and inconvenient.

With many other smart rings currently on the market, Apple’s robust ring could just give them a run for their money. With Apple stating that “a need exists for a more efficient way to use a touchscreen”, we wait with baited breath to shout “mazel tov” to the birth of a new Apple product.
