Technology is all about making our lives conveniently easier for us, so the idea of a wardrobe that will do more than house our clothes is the kind of tech advantage that grabs my attention.
LG Electronics debuted its LG Styler Clothing Care System in New York, on 10th September 2015 during NYFW. With whispers that the LG Styler will be available at the end of September 2015, this fashionable tech must have is a wardrobe that will steam your clothes by removing wrinkles and odours without detergents or other harsh chemicals.
The ultimate lifestyle tech gadget is the brainchild of LG Electronics Inc., a South Korean multinational electronics company headquartered in Yeouido-dong, Seoul. LG has become well known for developing electronics, appliances and mobile devices that feature innovative technology and sleek designs created to suit your life and your style.
So how does it work? Well it is not as complicated as it sounds. First of all, the wardrobe gets hot as it fills with steam, the space will in turn will begin the process of de-wrinkling and deodorizing your clothes. The hangers then gently shake back and forth to remove wrinkles, before a release of an aroma that will give your clothes that fresh smell. A perk for the boys, is that there is a separate press area that will sort out the creases in trousers, and will create the ‘perfect crease’ in half an hour.
Hygiene was something that LG looked into. The hot steam spray technology used will get rid of 99.9% of germs and bacteria. The Odor Removal feature uses steam to help remove smells left behind by smoke, food and sweat, and depending on individual tastes, users can choose between two different aroma sheets. Dave Van der Waal, head of marketing for LG Electronics USA says, ‘The busier our lives become, the more difficult it is to take proper care of our wardrobe. Professional cleaning services are not only costly, but they can also harm your clothes over time. The LG Styler is a great complement to such services and helps consumers take greater control over their wardrobe, keeping coats, sweaters, blouses and other delicates looking and feeling their best.’
The features that we love are the quick refresh button that will keep your clothes smelling fresh and being able to communicate with others through Smart Diagnosi and NFC Tag-On. Smart Diagnosis alerts users via their smartphones when the unit requires maintenance or repair. With Tag-On, owners can install a free app and download customized cycles specific to a garment type and program the Styler with a simple tap of their phones.
I am not one for ironing so I love the idea of this kind of technology making our lives easier. At $2000 the price tag is kind of high for a gadget that basically febreezes your clothes, but I am still sold and cannot wait to get my hands on one.
