PFW: Exploring Fashion Tech and Humans At The Intersection of Wearable Technology

An event taking place during Paris Fashion Week is all about illustrating how technology is innovating the fashion industry.

Paris Fashion Week always brings out the unexpected, and this season the unexpected comes in the shape of Tumblr and Paramount Pictures collaboration. Looking to bring the worlds of film, fashion and technology to the French city, the two companies are taking part in an event that started today (28th February 2017) and will run until the 7th March 2017.

Tumblr and Paramount Pictures Ghost in a Shell

In celebration of the release of ‘Ghost in the Shell’, the exhibition, curated by Tumblr, will feature wearable tech from a range of designers with the objective of illustrating how technological advances are innovating the fashion industry in a very creative way.

If you are able to attend, you will be in for a treat. Brands like Chromat are going to be exhibiting their famous Adrenaline Dress powered by Intel. The garment, which is from their SS16 collection, is composed of printed panels interlinked into an expandable carbon fibre framework. The stunning dress mimics the body’s ‘fight or flight’ reaction and changes shape to empower the wearer. Chromat will be in good company with the likes of Wise Wear, Cutecircuit, EMEL+ARIS, Silvia Fado, and Ying Gao also exhibiting alongside Tumblr and Paramount Pictures.

Chromat’s Adrenaline Dress

Showing off the kind of fashion not usually associated with the traditional exhibitors at Paris Fashion Week, the tech-themed event not only celebrates the exploration of fashion, art, film and technology, it also explores the relationship between fashion tech and humans at the intersection of wearable technology and humanity. Very exciting. If you cannot make the trip to Paris, then you will be happy to know that  Tumblr will showcase the highlights and original content from the event online from 10th March 2017.
