The Fashion Industry Is Ripe for Disruption, Will Your Idea Be The Next Big Thing?

We have all heard of or even been to a hackathon, now it seems that fashion has put its own spin on it and Fashathon was born.

Hoping to inspire the next big trend in the fashion and technology space, SetSquared, a university business incubator, London College of Fashion and Fashion Innovation Agency have come together to bring a great opportunity to 50 lucky innovators.

Taking place from 30th June 2017- 1st July 2017, the 2-day experiential learning programme, will bring the world of fashion and technology together under one roof. The whole idea behind the programme is to develop a number of investible business propositions in less than 48 hours. On the drive behind their idea SetSquared shared, “Possibilities for merging fashion with technology – two pioneering sectors by definition – are endless. There is a never-ending flow of innovations emerging or soon to be discovered. The only question is: what will be next?” When it comes to their latest project, Matthew Drinkwater, head of the Fashion Innovation Agency, believes that “The digital revolution is beginning to force huge change within an industry that is ripe for disruption.”

This is not the first Fashion Hackathon to take place. Back in 2014 Decoded Fashion held their own hackathon in collaboration with AllSaints, Condé Nast International, The GREAT Campaign and the British Fashion Council. Before that, in 2013, The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) partnered with Conde Nast and Decoded Fashion and produced a Fashion Hackathon. More recently, in 2016, the Swedish Fashion Council organised their own. Their goal was to create a new hybrid industry between fashion and technology, and solve a social problem or everyday challenges by creating the next generation of wearables.

They are also encouraging creative, technologists and anyone in between to apply.  So if you fancy lending your skills to the next innovation startup then this two-day workshop could be right up your street. There are limited places so sign up now. Deadline for applications is 26th May 2017.
