NYFW: Intel Disrupts and Transforms the Fashion Industry

Intel's presence this season promises to disrupt the industry and take the future of fashion to the next level.

No stranger to Fashion Week and confirmed as the official technology partner of NYFW, we are excited to see how Intel will transform and grow the fashion industry beyond the usual humdrum of air kisses and FROW gossip.

Collaborating with select designers such as Erin Fetherston, Prabal Gurung and Marissa Webb, Intel and partner IMG, will be reinventing the runway viewing experience by live-broadcasting runway shows in full stereoscopic virtual reality. Powered by VOKE’S TrueVR platform, viewers will be able to experience a natural viewing environment that will transport them from their couches to the runway.

Easy access to the runway for the everyday fashionista sounds quite innovative, and we are happy to share that for Intel, their involvement in NYFW does not stop there. They are also offering cutting edge technology to designers who want to experiment with new ways of bringing wearable tech products to market. Brands working with Intel and taking the leap into technology include luxury designer TOME. Besides their everyday accessories, they will be showcasing a bracelet that is based on Intel® Curie technology. The piece of tech jewellery has been designed to help women improve their health and the quality of their day by staying connected on-the-go. Not stopping at a piece of bling, TOME and Intel have also created a proof of concept handbag that is not only sustainable, but brags the kind of Intel technology that detects ambient temperature, toxic gases and barometric pressure.

Spreading their tech wings further, Intel has also collaborated with “loose luxury” designers Baja East x Fila who will be introducing a new connected shoe line. The connected shoe will be powered by Intel® Curie technology that helps track and interpret fitness data. The shoes will be shown as part of the runway show and line to retailers/buyers interested in adopting in their stores.
