Inspired by StrongArm’s deep understanding and connection to the safety of active workers, Armor was created using INTELLiTEX,  patent-pending technology designed and fabricated by The Crated, and a printed graphene temperature sensor by Bon Bouton.

With the objective to advance smart apparel so that e-textiles can become softer and more useful, the Armor prototype has the ability to monitor harmful working conditions such as bodily stress, extreme temperatures and compromising postures. Armor can also be housed in any apparel exterior which makes it easier for it to intelligently recognise problems such as fatigue and strain.

As for StrongArm Technologies, they develop leading ergonomic solutions for injury prevention and peak performance for the industrial workforce. Through innovative design, StrongArm’s flagship product is the V22 ErgoSkeletonTM. It unlocks human potential with a stress on safety, strength and endurance through injury prevention.

StrongArm Technologies patented ErgoSkeleton is a wearable, self powered lifting device that combines the core principles of ergonomics and exoskeletons.

After being introduced to the potential of the Armor prototype, I was excited about how functional the creation was but I must admit that I was a bit disappointed that it was not visually appealing. On that, I guess one could argue that the Armor prototype has been created for safety in the workplace so therefore being beautiful would not be high priority. To that I would say, wouldn’t it be great if The Crated x StrongArm partnership would influence other companies to collaborate and create unique products that are actually BOTH beautiful and functional?
