This week Jawbone® launched, UP24™ successor, the UP2™ activity tracker. Smaller by 45% than its predecessor, the UP2 is a stylish wristband made of anodized aluminium framework and offering the same stylish low profile design as Jawbone‘s UP3™ band. Priced at £89.99 / $99.00, the tracker, designed by Yves Behar, connects to Jawbone’s UP® app system so it can monitor how you sleep, move and eat.
Made with a rechargeable lithium ion battery, the UP2 device will give the wearer 24/7 continuous wear. With no screen, it is perfect for those seeking a fitness tracker that will discreetly fit into their life. Available in 12 languages, the UP2 boasts many convenient features that include a vibrating motor that can be set to wake you up at the most optimal point in your natural sleep cycle. Health-wise, not only can the UP2 band be customised to remind you to take your daily pill, it will also be your personal companion on your fitness-tracking journey.
Using Bluetooth to connect wirelessly to your smartphone, the one size fits all UP2 band can last up to seven days on a single charge and is also shower and splash resistant. Promising to get better over time, Jawbone will honor this by adding new features that will be delivered through free software and app updates.
Travis Bogard, vice president of product management and strategy at Jawbone, “We are excited to launch UP2 globally as the stylish successor to UP24, taking up less space on the wrist while still delivering the same advanced features that our users love.” He adds “At an affordable price, we believe it is a best-in-class wearable appealing to the largest sector of the market.”
With so many fitness trackers on the market, why go for Jawbone? Well besides their desire to stay current and be the best fitness tracker in the market, their new device is powered by the very helpful Smart Coach, an intelligent system that learns your habits and gives you personalized guidance and feedback. For example, if Smart Coach finds that an earlier bedtime means you typically get more out of your day, it will suggest that you set an earlier bedtime reminder. As part of Jawbone, the Smart Coach is all about overcoming obstacles, creating new habits and committing to your goals.
Available in Black Diamond and Light Grey Hex, the UP2 tracker can be purchased globally from jawbone.com and Apple. In the UK it will be available at Amazon, Currys/PC World, John Lewis and other leading retailers.
Still have doubts? Then maybe you will be tempted by the UP4 tracker. Rumoured to be released this summer 2015, it will boast a new design that will allow wearers to make payments on the go, a feature similar to Apple Pay. The only downfall is that you will need to have an American Express Card and that the UP4 will first only be released in the US.
